Michael's News : I'm leaving on a transit van... Don't know when I'll be back

Michael's News I remember it like it was yesterday, I was awkwardly stuffed into the back of Kevin’s Rover, my lamp sticking quite awkwardly into my ribs and my head being pressed into the window. One of my mother’s friends assured her the fastest way was to ignore the road signs and go a different route, I protested and we went the wrong way. Even despite our five minute error, Kevin still managed to get there in a godly forty minutes, a feat which I still marvel at.

I remember carrying the boxes in and looking around thinking “this place smells of Jacket Potatoes”. I remember my mum crying and her leaving, leaving me sat in an Alien room, in a different town and at the start of a very new phase of life.

Starting University? Was it really five years ago?

I picked up my key in the Wilkinson Bar and went to 2 Welch House, tried the door and it wouldn’t open. Oh great! What a way to start uni!

I checked the label on the Key, 5 Welch 2….

Maybe it was 5 Welch House, room 2…? It was…

I remember unpacking all my stuff, thinking how little I actually owned. Then sitting in my room, I remember my first meal was a Salmon salad which my Nana Dell gave me. It was five past six and I was alone in the house, no other bugger in the house. I decided to go for a wander. I walked to Sainsburys and bought some Jacket Potatoes, as odd as it seems I still remember thinking getting there and just buying something for the sake of it. I walked back home to an empty house, realised I couldn’t get a TV signal, read a book and went to sleep at about ten o clock.

So I spent my first night at uni; sober, bored and alone in a house.

This is just for you Gilroy...

The Ultimate Warrior's infamous "Queering don't make the world work" speech...

Your nowhere near as Right Wing as the Warrior! :-D

I like to think of myself as slightly right of centre most of the time, this guy is completely off it...

But he does make some good points!

WARRIOR!!!

Michael's News : Making good progress with the project... no Evil

Michael's News Well folks, after much fiddling and messing on I'm no no further forward with getting some of the site up to date. There's a French language file hiding somewhere and I'll be damned if I can find the blasted thing, but I am working on it. I've made several modifications to things behind the scenes and a couple of problems have been ironed out. The image gallery is almost back online, but there's a good 3GB of images to upload still and even with my connection that's going to take a bloody long time.

If your new to the site, the reason for the links at the top not linking and the search feature being in French!? Is that I've just updated the content management module which powers the site, and the old black and red theme just falls flat on its face with the RunCMS 1.4, so it's grey all the way...

...At least until I can figure out how the change the blasted thing! :-D

On the job hunting front, I've decided to look for more gainful employment which isn't teaching. That's a completely other story and one which is probably better done at a later date, to quote Chris and Ian, it's something to do with "furious fury upon furies".

Went out for a drink in York with Si and Mac, which was funny. We ended up looking for Nil, after Simon misheard my friend "Neil" pronounce his name. But no one ended up in the fountain this time round.

Longer, more content based update on its way soon.

Oh and I'm catching up to you Matt! Only 20 places behind you now!

The Bulldogs will beat the Tigers!

Michael's News Hmmm... New site layout as you can see, the site still has several issues and teething problems. However at the moment I've not got enough time to sort them all out so it'll have to be a project on hold for the time being. With any luck I'll sit down on Friday and hammer out all the faults and get the photo galleries back online. If you see anything which needs sorting, just either post it on the forum or send me an email.

Gilroy posted a great little movie on the forums with the usual 80s heros, some really good laughs on there.

I'm up several places in the WWE Fantasy League, I'm catching up on Matt after having such a good week and I think I'll be going even further after this week. Sensible clever picks are going to see me beat Mr Kidd. Sod Matt Power! I'm a Geek Gawd dog Damnit!!!

England are playing tonight, I'm still feeling confident, but to be honest, I feel like slapping Sven for not listening to me about penetrative play when playing physical sides. God it's like 1997 never happened, Jesus, where was he when the role of the Midfielder changed? Physical sides can easily handle long balls, especially when the majority of their players are from lower leagues, where due to a lack of technical skill power and strength become more important. It's all very well Crouch being able to out jump the guys but he's not got the power to get them off him. But did you see how much they back footed when Lennon ran at them?

Against Sweden, our game will have to be on the up and up, their a good side with strength and skill, however we should be able to simply stroke the ball around them and score some goals. Owen and Rooney?

Oh dear...

I didn't get the Starbeck Job or the Egglescliffe job, so at the moment the count stands at 51 applications, 5 interviews and 0 offers. I'm waiting for the part time job at MSG to come through, their sending a letter so fingers crossed for that one. At least my finger will be in the pie still, although actually eating the pie seems to be more work than trying to get Ian to buy me a drink... :-D

So if each interview had 10 short listed and over a hundred applicants, With a 1 in 10 chance of being successful at an interview and 5 interviews per 50 applications, I estimate that I need to apply for another 50 jobs to get a job. So I might be employed this time next year...

Michael's News : I really hate the Project...

Michael's News Even the mighty fall, as much as I think my venturings on the net to be "high brow", I sometimes fall to net addictions and fads, albeit geeky fads.

I proudly yell Hyakugojyuuichi and Numa Numa in everyday speech, but I have yet to even register on MySpace, or for that matter "get" the concept. What is it? Just basic online blogs? Music sites? Photo Galleries? Seen it, done that... Social Networking? What tripe! Just seems like a more complicated Face Party to me, then again, knowing what some people have done with some people from that website, I'm worried about the youth of today...

Some fads, especially the pop culture ones seem to happily pass me by...

However I have found a fad I like and I was happy to hear last week that I'm not the only one. Mr Gilroy also has fallen prey to a great online addition... And it's not Wikipedia (to which I am hopelessly addicted...)

I am talking about YouTube...

If you ignore the videos of teenagers dancing in their bedrooms, there is some relly awesome stuff on there... So I decided to see what music I can pull out for giggles...

Tomorrow!

Comedy... But for now, enjoy the tunes! If you like any of the tunes, comment below and I'll see what else I can find...
